Sightseeing Guide
Uesugi Shrine, where Matsugasaki Park is located.
Uesugi Shrine is a shrine where Kenshin Uesugi, who is known as the strongest military commander in the Warring States period, is enshrined, and is also popular as a power spot from such a background. In particular, at the foot of the bridge that you pass when you go to Uesugi Shrine, there is the flag of "Bi", which is the military flag of Kenshin Uesugi, and it is extremely popular with history fans. There is also a statue of Kenshin Uesugi, which is also a highlight.
Uesugi Shrine was burnt down in 1919 and rebuilt, but it is still the heart of Yonezawa citizens and is visited by many worshipers throughout the year.
