| The Galata Tower is one of the must-see tourist attractions in Istanbul. The Galata Tower was originally built in the early 6th century, but it has been rebuilt several times due to wars and earthquakes, and its current form dates back to 1509. Its stone exterior speaks to its long history. The path to the Galata Tower is steep, including the famous Camondo Staircase. If you are not confident in your physical strength, there is also a tram available. The Galata Tower is not particularly tall at 69.9m, but because it sits on a hill and is not surrounded by tall buildings, it can be seen from many places in Istanbul. From the observation deck of the Galata Tower, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Istanbul, including the magnificent Golden Horn, as well as the European and Old Cities separated by the Bosphorus Strait, and the Asian Cities. However, since it is a popular tourist spot, there are often long lines to enter the observation deck, so be sure to allow plenty of time for your visit. |
